3D Mapping Transforms W South Beach Events

The W South Beach Hotel has unveiled an innovative new concept ballroom after completing a $6 million renovation. The ballroom utilizes cutting-edge 3D mapping technology to virtually recreate any environment or experience for guests. From immersive underwater ocean scenes to city skylines from around the world, the technology allows guests to feel fully transported to another place.

The 3D mapping system combines storytelling, visual and audio effects, and technical precision to transform the 4,300-square-foot blank canvas ballroom into any virtual setting. Similar to attractions like L’Atelier des Lumiéres in Paris, the ballroom offers a unique experience for guests.

The built-in projection system requires only light to function, eliminating the need for complicated sets, heat, or UV emissions. Guests and event planners have a fully customizable digital library of still images, videos, and pre-set color scenes to choose from. Scenes include abstract digital art, lush foliage, beaches, wallpaper effects, and celebratory party themes.

The ballroom space can accommodate up to 250 guests or be divided into two more intimate spaces. A customizable LED lighting system installed in 12 ceiling coves and six wall arches brings the projection mapping designs to life without traditional venue limitations. Four ceiling-mounted presentation projectors can operate simultaneously with environmental projectors. Integrated audio technology includes 24 ceiling-mounted microphones and 32 discrete, high-performance speakers to enhance presentations and events.

The hotel also upgraded three event studios that can each hold up to 60 guests. Studios feature 75-inch LCD monitors, wireless internet, HDMI connectivity, on-demand entertainment, and adjustable soft white lighting. Studios can be combined into one larger space as needed.

With these innovative enhancements, the W South Beach Hotel is pioneering a new standard of event experiences and virtual travel for guests.
